Ride high! Above 10,000 feet above sea level (ASL). Start out at 9,700 feet ASL at Rock Creek Lake and make your way – riding, pushing and perhaps carrying your bike – up to 10,200 ASL. Look down on Rock Creek Canyon to your left and up to Wheeler Ridge that rises yet higher above to your right. Then it’s down, down, down for 10 miles and 3,000 vertical feet. Oh, yeah!
Length: 14.4 miles – point to point.
Duration: Half day adventure of +4hrs with ride time approximately 2.5hrs.

A great summer ride that gets you up over 10,000 feet where it’s cool during the hot summer months. Available from late spring through early fall. Closed in winter due to closure of the access road. Reserve this adventure for your group any day of the week from now until the seasonal road closure next winter.
Half way between BISHOP and MAMMOTH LAKES: Starting at Rock Creek Lake, 9 miles from Tom’s Place, this route has a commanding view of Rock Creek Canyon then cuts around the ridge for a brief view of the Owens Valley then turns back up to Tom’s Place.
This is a fairly challenging ride as it starts with an uphill climb over a rocky section that will require some bike portage. Then it’s pretty much downhill all the way and is best done fast to get your adrenaline going. Best suited to adults and youth over 16 years with a high level of strength and fitness and mountain biking experience.
